I Love My Park Day 2017 – A Success

We had a great turn out today. Even though we were dampened by the rain, our spirits could not be. Plenty of projects were accomplished and new Friends made. Thank you to everyone who made Letchworth State Park’s I Love My Park Day 2017 a success.

If you have pictures that you’d like to submit for this article from the project you worked on, please send them to friends@friendsofletchworth.com. If you’d like to do more projects like these, become a member today.

Members Only Event: Trail Work Introductory Meeting

Saturday, April 22nd, 2017 at 9:00 AM we are holding our first Trail Maintenance meeting at the St. Helena shelter. The purpose of this meeting will be for us to understand expectations for trail clearing and maintenance with park management. In addition, we have decided to begin an ‘Adopt a Trail’ program for those interested in maintaining a specific trail or section of trail.

We will be working on Trail #13 (the St. Helena Trail) for our exercise in practical trail work after meeting at the St. Helena shelter.

Feel free to bring appropriate hand tools for vegetation & branch trimming (hand pruners, hand saws, loppers, etc). No motorized tools, please. Insect repellent and sunscreen will be appropriate depending upon the conditions.

Please dress for working out on the trail and bring appropriate hydration for yourself.

I sincerely hope you can celebrate Earth Day 2017 with us as we kick off our newest project.

End Of Summer Concert

summer-2

The last Summer concert series was a spectacular event! Great weather ended a great concert season.  The bands played crowd engaging music, face paintings, petting zoo, wildlife demonstrations and family fun for all.

The new Friends of Letchworth event tent was up and providing free shade and tables for those who happened upon the event and wanted to stay a while.  summer1

The Friends of Letchworth 50/50 raffle was the largest we ever had too!  With a total of $280 and the winner taking home $140, to which they graciously donated $40 back to FoLSP!

The “summer” season may be over but the fall colors are just warming up.  Be sure to stop by and visit our tent at the craft show this year and pick up your 2017 Calendar.
